How to Fix a Mistake on Your Kazakhstan ETA

Two kinds of error

An ETA application contains identity data, which comes from your passport, and trip data, which comes from your itinerary. The first is what the border officer matches against the document in hand. The second describes the journey.

Identity errors are the serious ones. A record that says your passport number is X while the passport says Y does not match, and no amount of trip-data editing fixes that.

What to do first

Open your account and look at the application status before changing anything. If it is still in review, a correction may restart processing — which matters when you are close to the 72-hour floor.

If the application has already been approved and the error is in an identity field, the practical answer is a new application with the correct document. Keep the old one until the new one is approved; a duplicate is a nuisance, an empty record near departure is a problem.

The 72-hour floor changes the maths

Because applications must be in at least 3 calendar days before the trip, a mistake discovered 24 hours before departure cannot be fixed by re-applying in time. That is the single strongest argument for checking the confirmation the minute it arrives, while there is still room to act.

Avoiding it

Read the approved record against the passport line by line: surname, given names, document number, date of birth, nationality. Thirty seconds. Then check the email address it was sent to actually belongs to you.
